For the most part, this show's animation brims with creativity and has a completely distinct style from every other animated show that's ever been made, I'm dead serious about that and I dare anyone to argue otherwise.

The animation in this show can only be described as literal eyecandy, and sometimes they take it one step further with episodes like The Money where the climax has the characters degrade into literal storyboards and post-it notes, something that I've seen no other show do other than Regular Show in its finale. Most of the other characters I believe are flash-animated but it's hardly noticeable because of how expressive this show is (mainly early on) and how quick and swiftly the animation moves. Simian are CGI, Ocho is 8-bit, Larry is origami, so on and so forth. Robinson, and Rocky are puppetry, Tina Rex and Ms. Every single character on this show has a unique design mostly due to the multitude of different animation styles they use, like the librarian in the school is a throwback to cartoons from the 1920s, Clayton is claymation as his name suggests, Mr. Most of the backgrounds are (seemingly) photo-realistic, so one could even say that to a small extent that this show is kind of like a live-action and cartoon hybrid, and probably one of few pieces of media to actually do it right. Every single second, especially early on, the show is intent on wowing you with its visuals by having characters interact with what obviously are uniquely designed setpieces. It incorporates so many different animation techniques and styles and they all blend in with the environment perfectly. Once season 6 wrapped up, I decided that I wanted to give Gumball another go because I knew I was being downright unfair to it, especially in S1-4, and after a little less than a year of it finishing, these are my solidified thoughts on Gumball altogether.ĪNIMATION: Everyone knows this show has phenomenal animation, and it's probably some of the greatest animation that I've ever seen be put on TV. My season 3 opinions barely changed from when I was younger, and s4-6 were entirely new to me, but season 6 surprised me because no one I knew back then actually liked this season, and I was just another person to hop aboard the train and say that this season was complete shit. It would appear that those clips left a really sour taste on my mouth, because they made me go harder on my beloved S1-2 than usual when I did upload those scorecards. The main reason why I made scorecards for Gumball in 2018 was because of those shitload of clips from this show that people would spam over Twitter which had captions like "BRO DID GUMBALL JUST?", "OH MY GOD THIS SHOW HAS OPENED ITS THIRD EYE", "I CAN'T BELIEVE GUMBALL DID THIS", and each of those clips were either a piss-poor attempt at social commentary or a blatant pop-culture reference, which had me in disbelief because it gave me the impression the show went from having a stylized sense at humor, to a Chinese South Park knock-off except unfunny and obnoxious. Obviously, I don't think the same way about season 3 right now because the clever writing is actually something that worked in its favor, but let's cut to 2018 where things were different. I didn't hate it at all, but it left me indifferent besides The Void, which was awesome. At the time, I would have told you that S1-2 of Gumball was my favorite CN show, even surpassing Regular Show in its early years because it was seriously that good, but when season 3 began airing, it didn't click with me for the sole fact that this show went from having a zany sense of humor to focusing more on being wittier and having more depth in its writing.

I've pretty much memorized the transcript for several episodes and watching them nowadays still impress me the same way they did when I was a kid, they still haven't lost their luster. Since the day this show premiered, I was obsessed with it, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen episodes like The Curse, The Pressure, The Party, The Mystery, The Goons, The Fight, and so on. HISTORY: From the moment this show was announced, I was beyond excited to see it because just from the title alone, I knew it would be a special kind of show, and my expectations were completely exceeded when the first two episodes dropped. I will not be taking down my previous scorecards on this show because I want to see how much my thoughts have evolved since then, and even those scorecards don't display my actual initial thoughts on S1-2 at least, so we're doing take two. Lol at this rate, it's as if I'm uploading a scorecard every month now, and I may have another one out either by the end of this month or in early July depending if I don't become a lazy-ass again.
